28 youth leaders to represent RP in 39th SSEAYP

The National Youth Commission is sending twenty-eight (28) young Filipinos to represent the country as Youth Ambassadors of Goodwill to the Ship for Southeast
Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP) this year.

The youth leaders from various regions successfully completed a series of competitive selection
processes. Orientation in diplomatic affairs, and leadership workshops are just some of the
training highlights to prepare them to embody the best of the Philippines’ values and culture
during the international program from October 22 until December 14, 2012.

They will interact with fellow ASEAN youths and discuss relevant issues affecting young people
in the region and the world.

Now on its 39th year, the SSEAYP is sponsored by the Japanese Government and supported
by member-states of the ASEAN. On board Japanese Liner Fuji Maru, the Philippine delegates
and more than 300 other youths from all over Southeast Asia are set to visit six countries,
namely Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Japan for an exchange program
that will foster diplomacy, cultural understanding and cooperation between and among youth
leaders in Southeast Asia and Japan
