Island's Leisure Boutique Hotel + Spa in Dumaguete City

At the outset, it appears to me that Island's Leisure Boutique Hotel is one of new hotels sprouting in Dumaguete that positions itself as good value for the buck (i.e. for backpackers; bunk bed with aircon at Php350.00/night)

It sits on a what appears to be an apartment compound in its past life.

The building design looks rather uninspired but what it lacks in structural aesthetics it makes up for it with its swanky tropical-modern interior design.

Its fire-engine red door on the roadside is hard to miss in the Hibbard Avenue stretch.

Before reaching the front desk, one passes through a spa-inspired lanai. The furniture, I should say, appears to be tastefully selected. The focal point of the property is a red fountain.

I was expecting a staff with five-star service as mentioned in reviews but I was disappointed. While the staff maintain a congenial air, they lack the natural charm I was looking for. Service was efficient though.

The first room I went in (near the dining hall) looks fine except that the restroom was a tad too small. Neither hook nor mirror inside the loo. The room has a small kitchen (sink + microwave oven), desk, love seat, flat screen tv and a/c.

The second room looks like a chic bachelor's pad. There's an en-suite toilet and bath, a fridge, dining and living areas and a double bed. I find the photo hanging against an orange wall captivating I want to take it home with me (it says the decors are for sale. nice!).

Behind the property are the spa area and a small pool.

Island's Leisure Hotel and Spa Dumaguete room rates:
Wellness Room with a daily one hour massage (Php 3,000/night)
Premier Room with mini-gym and Coffee Maker (Php 2,600/night)
Premier Suite Room including Mini Kitchen with microwave (Php 3,000/night)
All these rooms include a 32" TV, air condition, hot and cold shower, hair dryer, mini bar and breakfast as well as airport or seaport pick-up.

Duo Pad Room with air condition, twin size bed, 32" TV, shared bath room (Php 1,200/night)
Single Pad Room with fan, single bed, shared bath room (Php 800/night)
Backpackers Room with bunk-bed set-up, air-condition and shared bathroom (Php 350/night)

p.s. it's a nice venue for intimate weddings or prenuptial shots.
